Mondays is for drinking to the seldom seen kid...

ow I wish I could stay in bed and sleep all Monday. Bank holidays don't count - because you know you don't have to go to work. It's much nicer to lie in when you know you should have been at work. Ahhh...

This week I have to write two essays and start thinking on another two that are due in a week. This will involve watching 4 movies by Neil Jordan, reading a book (or two) on Irish TV and Filmmaking + trying to come up with an essay title on Irish Economy Situation (yah - I have to come up with my own title) + come up with a title

for a feature about anything at all (and I might have an idea, but it's not fun considering I have to manage the above) + start reading some exciting text about Feminists, Foucault, Barthez and the gang ... And make an exciting blog entry for 300 words (yes, it's for college). Ah....

And then there's stuff at work that takes all my imagination at the moment.

And there's two gigs this week - Lykke Li and Foals, and I do have tickets...

And my Ozone got 'effed up at the weekend, so I didn't go out yesterday that resulted in quite pissed off mood. Although I was offered a 9 metre :D Somehow I thought 7m would have been a better idea. And now I need a new bladder for the tip strut.

And I'm spitting all this out... Although I should be working. But I'm reading WIRED instead :D

P.S. To add to everything above - I forgot about my mum's ACTUAL B-Day that was yesterday and I didn't take the camera for tonight, although I looked at it and thought whether I needed it...

Guy Garvey is cool.

I'm gonna go to space

If I get a loan from the bank...
Someday...
Apparently it's only 200k (and that's in poor dollars) with Virgin Galactic! Let's see if Ryanair will match it in some time. Probably just in time I get that loan.
Myself and Alma went to another lecture in Trinity's Science Gallery with Stephen Attenborough who's a Commercial Director for Virgin Galactic. Virgin - as in Richar... sorry... Sir Richard Branson.
I think it was the best lecture we've been to during the Science Week. So much interesting stuff - and the testing video was so intense to watch! Incredible! I think it can be found here.
Apparently the planning for this started in 90's and the successful test run in 2004. So it's not far until the first excursion will be launched.
Myself and Alma struggled to find space in the packed audience room in Paccard Theater, so we just asked a man on the second row to move and give us seats he was blocking. So, we ended up sitting next to Bill Cullen - who, as it appears, bought the first ticket for the thing and will be one of the first guys to go to Space with Virgin Galactic.
Ahhh... will start saving now so... ;)
I liked what Peter Stark did designwise, very minimalistic and smart. But the best part of teh design was the suit! Oh yes, it's me I suppose, but the gold white and red (talking about red-heels - Laboutin reference anyone?) work really good together and I would just want one of those for craic.
The lecture was filmed and will be up on Science Week website. My amazed face might make an appearance, adding up to another infamous appearance (this is a joke by the way, for the ones not familiar with my clumsy humour). I'm such a Sciency Person!
In the meantime I dream of another Space - all covered in snow - Haugastol! It's a third year now I've been planning to go there, and it doesn't look doable this year again... Dammit! :D I think I might go to Space earlier... In the meantime I'm waiting for a new Dimensions DVD, which I hope will come with another novelty Car Sticker.

Shouldn't make sence to you...

"Every Day I Love You Less And Less"... not... or maybe

6.00 AM Friday
"They take a Polaroid and they let you go, so C'mon"... She switches off Ladytron alarm
7.00 AM
She hears her flatmate rushing through the corridor, indicating that they both are now late for work. And she might be late for THE THING.
7.20 AM
Surprising herself in her great ability of squeezing her morning activities in 20 minutes (as opposed to a usual hour) she rushes out of the apartment block in hope for no-Friday traffic.
8.10 AM
She's almost there. Surprising herself again. And then she hears THE THING being announced on her favourite radio and she is sending the text in hope that she won't need to do THE THING and that THE THING will just drop from the skies.
8.20 AM
Luck is not on her side.
8.21 AM
Hasn't been ever, she's sent a few of those messages though.
8.40 AM
She's at the shops. Enough time to pick up a motivational muffin and a disgusting cup of local shop's coffee... the only option really.
8.45 AM
Finally, arriving to work. Work laptop goes up, and her personal laptop is already searching for Wireless connection.
8.55 AM
She's all set. Nothing should interfere. She switched off Skype, MSN, e-mails - even her mobile. Nothing should distract her for THE THING. Both websites are up and all she has to do now is press the Refresh button.
8.59 AM
She's counting seconds on the Windows Time Setup.
9.00 AM
GO!
9.01 AM
First THING located. Booked. Shaking hands. Connection dropped! "We sorry for inconveniences"! What??? Refresh. GO again! Booked. Connected. Loaded. Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap - there goes the password. Confirmed! Yay!
9.04 AM
Second THING. "We're sorry for inconveniences"! No!!! It went down twice. First thing was sorted so easily... Once again! "Your waiting time is 1 minute"...
9.06 AM
"Your Waiting time is 1 minute"
9.10 AM
"Your Waiting time...." Booked. Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap! Confirmed!!
9.11 AM
Tap tap tap tap tap... She's sending another message to the radio station, her hands shaking.
9.20 AM
"Another Anonymous texter says "OMG! I got the Tickets for Kaiser Chiefs AND Snow Patrol at the same time! My hands are shaking like mad..." lucky for some..."

Living for the weekend

So I travelled to the south this weekend. And what a great weekend it's been!

Starting off it probably took around 5 hours to drive down, and that's after a Halloween party at Alesya's. So, still a bit shattered I have made my way to what I thought would be a straight drive down South. Ha! Wrong! Half an hour trying to find the damn N7! I'm just useless in Dublin city...

Anyway when I finally found it I realised how beatiful the South was. Especially at 8 o'clock in the morning. I should have been somewhere close to Limerick at that stage. All fields were covered in thin frost and had a really homely feel. I miss snow. I really do. And frost is just a little reminder.

I think the coolest places I've passed were Birdhill - an autumn wonderland of Bright orange trees and wooden houses, and Adare - which I think might be Limerick's poshest side. Just Google the place - it's seriously cool.

I found that Dry County's (the cool Irish electro guys, anyone and idea what they're called now?) Another Idea is just about the coolest driving track if you're in the car in the early morning. Just about? Who's the coolest then? Well... I'm trying to decide between Björk's Wanderlust and Stereophonic's Dakota (how cheesy is that?). All of these were playing constatly on me little iPod (that got broken later on, but still plays stuff perfectly).

Roish so the competition was... not on. As in it was fun, but there wasn't any competition on. Oh sorry... there was the fancy dress thing on.

The fansy dress was brilliant as usual. Although there was probably around 30 of us. The band was a good craic, appearantly they started a bit shabby, but the bunch of us was busy getting ready in the CELL number 19, aka PM house.
I was Amy Winehouse. With all the tattoos attached. Or should I say "applied with a permament marker"? Nail varnish remover works best afters - belive me I've tried it all!
On Sunday the final results were announced. Check them out here ;)
And see yez later.
